This page is a Work in Progress as much of the lore/Development for the game is yet to be established.
The Star System Designer Tool is an in-game tool available to paying supporters of the Starship Simulator development project. Project Backers are grouped into tiers analogous to military ranks depending on their level of support, e.g., ensign, commander, fleet admiral. At the captain tier and above, access to the Star System Designer Tool is granted as a reward for supporting the project. The tool will be developed in due course nearer full release.
Function
The tool will allow the project's supporters unique ability to create their own in-game star systems, which will be granted lifetime permanency. The system is planned to allow the division of a set amount of materials into whatever components of a theoretical star system the backer desires along real-world scientific principles, i.e., if its formation is beyond scientific possibility then it won't be added to the game without due moderation. It can then be placed anywhere in the playable cosmos that the player selects, provided it is beyond a yet to be defined distance from the Sol system so as not to interfere with real world plausibility. The possible depth of detail in a system is yet to be settled; however, it is known that the type of star, it's orbital bodies and moons are all part of the package.
Availability
How the tool itself is to be made accessible is as yet unknown, since its developed form is yet to occur and so checking the Roadmap periodically for updates is recommended.
Community Involvement
Discord Backer DeceptiClaire (csiclough) created an editable CSV spreadsheet allowing Project Backers optionally to enter rudimentary details of their proposed system, which have already found their way into the development versions of the game. These systems are not binding and form a useful addition to the testing process and playable feature before full release of the tool itself. The file was made available within the Backer section of the Discord Server for user editing.
