Tech Demo 1 was released on Steam as a free download on or around October 3, 2022. It remained available until it was effectively replaced by the updated Tech Demo 2 released during the Steam Next Fest in June 2023.
Purpose
The primary goals of Tech Demo 1 release were:
- introduce the Starship Simulator concept to the public

- allow early testing of basic gameplay mechanics like ship exploration and flight
- begin building a community and gather initial feedback to guide further development
Content and Features
Tech Demo 1 included features such as:
- Ship Interior Exploration: the ability to explore multiple decks of the Magellan Class starship prototype on foot
- Basic Flight: rudimentary ship control and early implementations of FTL jumps
- Galaxy View: interaction with the large-scale galaxy map
