This page serves as a glossary for terms and phrases used in the Starship Simulator wiki.
Construction
- Bow: The front of the ship.
- Bulkhead: The doors and walls of a ship.
- Corridor: A long room, usually connecting between rooms or from ring to ring.
- Deck: The level on each starship. Each is designated a letter to help navigation.
- Framework: The metal work and points used to construct the starship.
- Hull: The outer shell and plating of the ship.
- Ring: The circular corridors on the starship decks, usually surrounding the central rooms.
- Stern: The rear of the ship.
- Tack: The small writing used to designate wall panels, often used to locate systems behind panels.
Directions
- Aft: The back side of the vessel, towards the stern.
- Forward: The front side of the vessel, towards the bow.
- Inboard: The side of the room closer to the vessel's centre.
- Outboard: The side of the room closer to the hull.
- Port: The left part of the ship.
- Starboard: The right part of the ship.
Personnel
- Admiral: A high ranking official in the UNSF, serving as a flag officer.
- Ambassador: A political and diplomatic envoy, often representing a political faction.
- Captain: The commanding officer of the starship, often serving as the Commanding Officer. Captains are outranked by Admirals.
- Civilian: A non-enlisted member of crew who is not a member of the United Nations Space Fleet.
- Commander: A senior commissioned of crew, usually the Executive Officer. They report directly to the captain.
- Commissioned Officer: Officers usually trained in fields through the United Nations Space Fleet.
- Enlisted: A crew member who is not a commissioned officer.
- Ensign: A junior commissioned officer and lowest level of the role. They are outranked by Lieutenants and other ranks.
- Lieutenant: The highest level of junior commissioned officers. Though placed in charge of departments, they are outranked by Lieutenant Commanders.
- Lieutenant Commander: A senior commissioned officer, serving as a junior level commander. They are often assigned as department heads and report directly to the executive officer.
Piloting
- Roll: Rotate the ship around to change the vessel's perspective on the direction of travel.
- Yaw: Rotate the ship to change the direction of travel.
