This page is a Work in Progress as much of the lore/Development for the game is yet to be established.
This system or feature is currently exclusive to the Development Branch and may not be available in the Public Demo.
This page describes the Starship Simulator Website and Account Integration features.
Overview
In the release of Tech Demo 4 and dev build 0.227.0.13, an account feature was introduced for players to create an account for the game. The account is optional and does not affect the game's core mechanics or local gameplay.
Registration
When on the website, you will need to go to the login page and then register for a new account. You will be asked to fill out a Username, Display name, Email, and Password. Once created, you will have access to the site features.
Registration can also be done from the game itself on the Account page within the main options menu.
Account Features
The account will have two primary functions:
Backer Reward Redemptions
The account will allow backers to redeem DLCs when available. As different levels of backers have different rewards and access to a different amount of DLCs, logging in will allow backers to choose which DLCs they wish to access as part of their rewards.
Asynchronous Global Progression
This opt-in feature will allow your game's exploratory data to be shared to the game's website. This will only share in-game data to the server for community sharing of exploration data. The data will be viewable on the website and will give the community the ability to check the progress of the player base.
Galactic Map
The account will give the community the ability to check a galactic map that will show the Milky Way Galaxy with a colored area to mark out which sectors have been explored. The aim is to allow the player base to check for undiscovered areas and be able to set course to help explore these areas.
Leaderboards
Leaderboards with stats of players who have explored the most systems, traveled the furthest, and many more boards can be shown to incentivize players to reach milestones.
First Contact Honours
Naming the players who have first reached stars, planets, and other celestial objects, as well as who was the first to make first contact with particular races.
Player Dashboard
This is the page where you can access and review your account. The below table shows available sections of the page.
| Section | Description | Features and Functionality |
|---|---|---|
| Account Details | User identification overview | Displays User ID, Username, Display Name, and Email. |
| Change Password | Security management | Allows password updates. Updating will sign out every linked device. |
| Connected Devices | Active session management | Shows Linked Clients with API tokens. Users can revoke unrecognized entries. |
| My Vessels | Fleet registry management | Displays registered vessels with the following options:
|
| Backer Rewards | Supporter benefits | Shows Backer Rank and any unlocked rewards for applicable accounts. |
| Game Integration | Future updates | A hub for in-game progression, stats, and cosmetics. Currently under development. |
API & Device Management
The website uses a token-based system to securely link your game client to your web account. This allows your in-game progress and vessel data to be updated on the portal without requiring your account password to be stored within the game files.
Connected Devices
Within the Player Dashboard, the **Connected Devices** section allows you to manage active links between your game and the website.
- Linked Clients: Displays a list of devices or game instances currently authorized to update your account data.
- API Tokens: Shows the unique identifiers used for the secure handshake between the game and the server.
- Revoke Access: Users have the ability to revoke any unrecognized or old entries. This immediately terminates the connection for that specific device and stops it from syncing data to the portal.
Fleet
On this page, you can view the community's registered public vessels and leaderboards. The below table shows available sections of the page.
| Section | Description | Features and Functionality |
|---|---|---|
| Look up a vessel | Search Function | Ability to look up a vessel by searching for the Registry Prefix & Registry Number. |
| Random vessel | Random card | Will pick a random public vessel from the registry and display Vessel, Registry, Owner, Distance from Earth, & Total distance traveled. |
| Systems fully surveyed | Leaderboard | Will show a leaderboard total amount of systems that have been fully surveyed per vessel. |

Galaxy
Display a 2D map of the games galaxy with a heat map of 100ly by 100ly sectors (1 per pixel) that players have visited. The galaxy sectors (pixels) change color to indicate exploration density.
Map Visuals
The map uses a color scale to indicate how many ships have visited a specific sector:
- Clear/Dark: Unexplored
- Green: Low activity
- Red: Moderate activity
- White: High activity (most visited)
The map includes permanent pins for the Sol system and Sagittarius A*.
Vessel Locations
A drop down menu allows you to choose to show pin locations for where players are currently located in their game. By default this is set to None, but you can choose All Vessels or select vessels from their specific Organization name. |}
