Jonesy was added to the game around Dev Build Update History#2024-09-17|Development Build 0.225.0.44 (mid-September 2024). He functions as an ambient Non-Player Character (NPC) designed to add life to the ship environment.

According to developer notes, Jonesy utilizes a spline-based pathfinding system to roam the vessel and has custom idle animations. Fixes to his pathing behavior were implemented in later builds (e.g., 0.225.0.60, 0.225.0.72).

Trivia

• The name "Jonesy" is a reference to the tabby cat belonging to Ellen Ripley in the classic 1979 science fiction horror film Alien.
