Tutorial:Window Controls

From Starship Simulator

This page is a Work in Progress as much of the lore/Development for the game is yet to be established.

Build Compatibility: This tutorial was last verified for Build 0.227.0.10. If you notice discrepancies in a newer version, please update the guide or flag it for review.

This guide explains how to use the Window Control User Interface (UI) found adjacent to selected windows aboard the starships in Starship Simulator. These Window Controls allow for manipulation of light's orientation through reflection, absorption, or material stress (polarisation or more commonly window tint), additionally on some windows to control the Scene Projection feature.

Example Window Control Panel

Interaction

To operate the UI:

  • position your viewpoint so that the cursor hovers over the desired button on the keypad screen
  • press Left Mouse Button to activate the button
  • you can hold the E key to activate a moveable mouse cursor overlay, which may make selecting specific buttons easier

Basic Operation

The Windows Control UI has two basic functions:

Polarisation

  • select OFF or ON to select or switch the state of the polarisation
  • select or to change the percentage levels of the polarisation's intensity
    • a selection may be made while a function is already set to off, but a change of effect will not be seen until the function is enabled

Scene Projection

Only on selected windows where a panel exists

  • select OFF or ON to select or switch the state of the Scene Projection.
    • the image brightness may be affected by any polarisation effect already selected and so it is recommended to turn this off while using scenic functions
  • select or to change Scene Projection images
    • selection may be changed while the function is set to off, although the effect itself will not been seen until the function is enabled
