Comms Station

The Comms Station (short for Communications Station) is the secondary scientific station on a starship's Bridge. Manned by a Comms Officer, it is used to perform communications duties between the ship and other communication sources, such as planets, space stations, spaceships and the operator's headquarters. It is the ship's primary communications conduit to the wider galaxy.

Location and Layout

The Comms Station is located on the port side of the Bridge alongside the Sensors Station, opposite the defence and tactical stations, and behind the Helm station. It is among those furthest away from the Command Chairs.

Development

Originally intended for implementation in patch cycle 0.230.0.0, development of the Comms Station began during Development Build 0.227.0.3. The station's current functionality includes receiving hails and missions from UNSF Headquarters, with the option to either accept or decline. The Comms Station is currently unavailable in Dev Builds. In future, it is planned to transfer communications to other stations and rooms.
