Fusion Reactor Controls

The Reactor Controls panel is primary control system for a Magellan class's Fusion Reactor. Manned by a member of the Engineering department, it is responsible for managing the Fusion Reactor, including its startup and shutdown processes and the reactor's electrical output.
Location and Layout
The reactor controls are located on the G Deck level of the Reactor Room. It currently located on the port side of the room, typically facing away from the Fusion Reactor.
The reactor controls features one interface to control the reactor, split into sections for the coolant loop, reaction systems and electrical functions. During the startup process, each section will be locked off until the conditions are met to begin their operations.
Core Fuctions
Operations at the Fusion Reactor Controls include:
- Coolant: Control over the coolant flow in the reactor from the tanks in Cryogenic Storage. Once coolant enters the reactor and reaches the correct temperature, it can control the Field Coils to ensure the reactor remains at a stable temperature.
- Fusion System: Control the fusion reaction in the reactor and amount of energy output. It can be used to activate the vacuum pump, used to distribute Deuterium and Helium 3 through the reactor. Intitiate and Terminate controls whether the fusion reaction is taking place, whilst controls at the bottom control the capacity of the reaction. (Note: Going over 100% can damage the reactor if used in the long term.)
- Electrical: Controls for the reactor's electrical output and connection to the ship's power grid. In Isolation mode, the reactor is not connected to the ship's systems and cannot be interacted with. In Startup mode, the reactor produces limited electrical energy required to begin its operations. In Supply mode, it provides electrical power to Reactor Output Distributor, which redirects power to various distributor systems.
Interaction
A player can interact with the Reactor Control Panel by standing before and facing it. Interaction with the on-screen panels is usually done by holding the 'Use Mouse' key (default E) and clicking elements with the Left Mouse Button.
