The Fusion Reactor in the Reactor Room

The Reactor Room is a compartment found on a starship. It is often used to store their Fusion Reactor, the primarily power source, and manage its distribution to other Ship Systems.

Layout

On Magellan Class starships, the reactor room is a large circular compartment at the centre of Decks D, E, F and G. The centre of the room contains the ship's fusion reactor, the main power source for Magellan class starships. On G Deck, it contains the flooring area, valves for the inflow, outflow of reactor and consoles which manage the ship's power supplies. G Deck also contains the Reactor's control panel, which can be used to manage its startup and shutdown safely.

The D Deck, E Deck and F Deck levels comprise mainly of scaffolding around the reactor to access components of it. Each deck of the room can be accessed through staircases located in the forward region of the room.

Features

Fusion Reactor

The fusion reactor is located at the very centre of the Reactor Room, stretching from G to D Deck. It is connected to inflow pipes connected to the Cryogenic Storage facilities, requiring input of Helium, Helium3 and Deuterium as coolant and fuel, respectively. The fusion reactor is controlled through the Fusion Reactor control panel, which manages it startup/shutdown process and power flow. Power produced from the reactor is sent to the distributors located around the reactor room.

Fusion Reactor Controls

A control panel for the fusion reactor is located in the port area of G Deck, facing the outer wall. It can used by engineering crews to control the reactor and complete startup/shutdown processes from the Cold & Dark state.

Reactor Output Distributor Panels

The six main distribution panels are located on the starboard wall of G Deck. They are used divert the electrical output of the reactor to ships systems, including the main battery arrays, FTL systems, shields, ship weaponry and sub-light engines. The main reactor output distributor panel is located on the far-right side of the group, which diverts power directly from the fusion reactor to the other panels and their systems. Upon the reactor's activation, the main panel will come online, whilst the others will need to have power diverted to them to begin their operations.

Deck Distributor Panels

Four Deck Distribution Panels for the Magellan class's decks are are located on G Deck of the reactor room. They are each located on the forward, port, aft and starboard sides of the room and control the power distribution for the respective quadrants of the deck. Each panel controls the power flow from the main battery arrays located on F Deck and divert it to Quadrant Distribution Panels located on each deck.

Quadrant Distributor Panels

Distribution Panels for D, E, F and G Decks are located on the forward, port, aft and starboard sides of the reactor room on their complementary deck. They control power for each respective quadrant for the deck, allowing power to be distributed to lighting and hardware. They can draw their power either from the start capacitors or the Deck Distributor.
