Comms Station

The Comms Station (short for Communications Station) is the secondary scientific station on the Bridge. Manned by a Comms Officer, it is used to perform communications duties between the ship and other communication sources, such as planets, space stations and the operator's headquarters. It is expected to be the main manager of communications for the ship to the outside world.

Location and Layout

The Comms Station is one of the forward stations. It is located on the port side of the Bridge alongside the Sensors Station, opposite the defence and tactical stations, and behind the Helm station. It is close to the captain and first officer's chairs. It is the furthest away from the Command Chairs.

Development

Originally intended to implemented in patch cycle 0.230.0.0, development of the Comms Station began for Development Build 0.227.0.3. The station's current functionality includes receiving hails and missions from UN Headquarters, with the option to either accept or decline. In future, it is planned to transfer communications to other stations and rooms.
