Sensors

From Starship Simulator

NOTICE: This page is a Work in Progress as much of the lore/Development for the game is yet to be established.

Sensors are devices used for data retrieval and analysis. On starships, they are used to scan the surrounding space for celestial bodies, detect other ships or anomalies, and monitor environmental conditions both inside and outside the vessel. Sensors assist with scientific analysis of stellar and interstellar objects, unknown phenomena, and mapping uncharted regions of space. External sensors can be controlled on the Bridge's Sensors Station.

External Sensors

Long Range

Long Range sensors are used to plot out star systems within the starship's local area and perform surveys on objects at at distance of 50 LY away. They utilise the LGAS Array to find and identify stars, including their star type and galactic coordinates. Surveys using the Long Range sensors will plot out a nearby star system and determine the type of astronomical/celestial objects within a star system.

Medium Range

Medium Range sensors are used to plot out a star system and perform surveys on objects at a distance of up to 0.47 LY (29723.21 AU) away. They utilise the HGAS Array.

Short Range

Short Range sensors are sued to gather surface data on astronical objects and perform surveys on objects at a distance of up to 3 million (3,000,00 km/0.02 AU). The utilise the HIDS Array.

Galactic Positioning

Galactic Positioning Sensors (GPS) are used to determine the ship's position within the Milky Way galaxy. They make use of the XNAV Dish (X-Ray Navigation) to determine the ship's location relative to Sagittarius A*.
