The Data Centre is the central computing core aboard the UNSF Magellan in Starship Simulator. It houses the primary server hardware, processing units, and data storage systems essential for the ship's complex operations.

Location and Access

The main server room centrally on Decks 'B' and 'C' with a lower level access on C Deck.

Function

The Data Centre serves as the 'brain' of the starship, responsible for:

  • Housing the main computer cores, server racks, and related processing hardware.
  • Performing complex calculations for critical systems like sensor analysis, navigational plotting, and FTL jump calculations.
  • Hosting the physical hardware representation for complex simulations, such as the Galaxy Generation system.
  • Managing ship-wide data storage, including mission logs, scientific data, crew records, and system diagnostics.
  • Supporting the operations of various other ship systems that rely on centralized computing resources.

Significance

As the central hub for nearly all information processing and system control, the Data Centre is a mission-critical location. Its proper function is vital for navigation, scientific research, and overall ship operation. Damage or malfunction within the Data Centre could potentially cripple major ship functions.
