Alpha Centauri

Alpha Centauri is the closest neighbouring star system to Sol System, located at galactic coordinates X: -26667 / Y: -3 / Z: 56 in Starship Simulator. In reality, it is approximately 4.37 light-years from Earth. As humanity's nearest interstellar neighbour, it is a significant location in the early stages of exploration depicted in the game.

The real Alpha Centauri system is a triple-star system, and the game likely reflects this structure:
- Alpha Centauri A (Rigil Kentaurus): A G2V star, very similar in size, mass, and temperature to Sol. It is the primary component of the central binary pair.
- Alpha Centauri B (Toliman): A K1V star, slightly smaller, cooler (orange), and dimmer than Sol. It orbits Alpha Centauri A in a binary pair with a period of about 80 years.
- Proxima Centauri (Alpha Centauri C): A small, dim M-class red dwarf star. While gravitationally bound to the main A/B pair, it orbits much further out (around 13,000 AU). Proxima Centauri is technically the closest individual star to Sol. It is known to host at least one Earth-sized exoplanet, Proxima Centauri b, though its actual habitability is questionable due to stellar activity. Planetary System
The sensor data table provided indicates the presence of 15 planets within the Alpha Centauri system in Starship Simulator. Given the procedural generation and the multiple stars, this likely includes a mix of rocky worlds, gas giants, and icy bodies orbiting the A and/or B stars, and potentially Proxima Centauri.
Planets orbiting within the respective Habitable Zones of Alpha Centauri A (~0.67 - 1.29 AU from star A, based on table data) and Alpha Centauri B (closer in than A's zone) would be prime candidates for investigation, though stability in a binary system and factors like stellar radiation need consideration.
