The Shuttle Bay is the designated area aboard starships intended for the launch and recovery of shuttlecraft. Within the UNSF, tasks in the Shuttle Bay will be carried out by the Operations department.
Current Status
As of the current development stage, the Shuttle Bay is largely conceptual. Both of the ships in production, the Magellan Class and the Caravella Class, have shuttle bays in their aft regions.
Intended Function
Once fully developed and able to support in-game operations, the Shuttle Bay will serve as the docking facility for shuttles transferring personnel and cargo to and from planet surfaces, also ship to ship movements and exploratory excursions.
