D Deck
D Deck is the fourth deck from the top of the Magellan class starship. It serves as the upper habitation level, providing living quarters and communal facilities for the crew. Key areas include crew cabins, the Mall (Upper Level), the mess hall, a bar, medical facilities, hydroponics, the shuttle control room, and the brig. D Deck can be accessed via the main stairwell and lift from C Deck above and E Deck below.
Layout
D Deck, along with E Deck, features a more complex layout than the upper decks, including a larger outer ring corridor ("C Ring") and additional access corridors, possibly related to engineering systems or shuttle bay support structures passing through.
Crew Cabins
This deck houses numerous cabins providing living quarters for the ship's crew members.
The Mall (Upper Level)
D Deck contains the upper level of the Mall, a large multi-deck recreational and commercial area shared with E Deck. This level may feature specific shops or facilities such as the ship's bar.
Mess Hall
The primary dining facility for the crew is located on D Deck, providing communal space for meals.
Bar
A dedicated bar area, situated within or adjacent to the Mall or Mess Hall, offers recreational space for off-duty crew.
Medical Facilities
The ship's main sickbay or medical centre is located on D Deck, equipped to handle injuries and health issues for the crew.
Hydroponics
This section is dedicated to growing plants, which supplement the ship's food supply and potentially for air revitalization or scientific study.
Shuttle Control Room
From here, operations related to the main Shuttle Bay (located on E Deck) are monitored and controlled. This includes managing departures, arrivals, and traffic within the bay.
Corridors
The deck features extensive corridor networks, including the large "C Ring" and additional passageways. These provide access to all facilities that link to engineering systems or structural elements associated with the shuttle bay below. Certain corridors principally found adjacent to the outer hull, although shown on the diagram here are not accessible. These are reserved for engineers and can only be reached through the engineering department from below.
Main Stairwell and Lift Access
The central stairwell and lift shaft pass through D Deck, providing vertical access connecting primarily to C Deck and E Deck.
