F Deck

From Starship Simulator

F Deck is the sixth deck from the top of the Magellan class starship and serves as a primary engineering level. It houses critical ship systems including the main Reactor Room, lower maintenance tunnels, cryogenic storage facilities, and battery rooms. Access routes for maintaining systems on adjacent decks, such as the E Deck Reaction Control Systems, originate here. F Deck can be accessed via the main stairwell and lift from E Deck, or through the maintenance tunnels or reactor room on G Deck below.

As a main engineering deck, F Deck's layout is dictated by the large systems it contains, particularly the central Reactor Room. It features robust structural elements and specialized access corridors and tunnels. Like C Deck, it incorporates an additional ring corridor compared to the upper decks. Accessways are designed for function, allowing engineers to reach vital systems, including those extending into adjacent decks like the RCS components on E Deck.

Reactor Room

Located centrally in the deck, this heavily shielded compartment houses the ship's main Fusion Reactor, generating power for all onboard systems and decks. The room stretches to D Deck and G Deck, though access in confined only to F and G Decks. F Deck consists primarily of a walkway surrounding the Fusion Reactor, with breakers and distribution panels for the deck located on the outer walls. Access to the reactor room is typically restricted and controlled for safety.

Maintenance Tunnels

An extensive network of maintenance tunnels runs through F Deck, providing engineers with access to conduits, power relays, structural elements, and other systems that are normally hidden behind panels or bulkheads. The tunnels currently feature distribution panels for all ship systems, which must be connected as part of the Cold & Dark Start. The tunnels can be accessed through doorways located in the four regions of the ship and connect to other tunnels located of E Deck and G Deck. In future updates, the maintenance tunnels will likely connect many key engineering spaces and may provide routes to other decks.

Cryogenic Storage

Located at the forward region between Ring 1 and Ring 2, the Cryogenic Storage rooms contain dedicated facilities for storing materials at extremely low temperatures. The room features four cryogenic tanks which are used for the materials needed for the Fusion Reactor. This could include fuel components, spare parts requiring cold storage, or scientific samples. The room stretches down to G Deck, though can be accessed through doorways located in the Ring 1 corridors on both it and F Deck.

Battery Rooms

One or more rooms dedicated to housing large banks of batteries. These likely provide backup power, store energy reserves, and help regulate power distribution throughout the ship.

RCS Maintenance Access

F Deck provides the primary maintenance access points for the Reaction Control System components situated in the outer corridors of E Deck above. Specialized hatches or crawl ways likely lead upwards from F Deck into these E Deck areas.

Corridors

The main corridors on F Deck, including the additional ring structure, are functional pathways connecting the various engineering sections, workshops, storage areas, and vertical transport points (stairs/lift).

Main Stairwell and Lift Access

The central stairwell and lift shaft pass through F Deck, providing vertical access connecting primarily to E Deck.
