NOTICE: This page is a Work in Progress as much of the lore/Development for the game is yet to be established.

The Probe Storage aboard a Magellan Class vessel

The Probe Storage area is a room designed to store and launch probes. It is operated by the Operations department, though also is expected to be used by science personnel. Probe Storage is used to collect samples for studies, though may also feature probe maintenance and construction facilities.

Location and Design

On a Magellan Class vessel, the Probe Storage area is found in the aft area of C Deck, as part of the ship's primary science and research facilities. It can be accessed via the aft-corridor leading to Ring 2.

The room is separated into two sections: probe storage and sample storage. The former is the larger compartment located on the outer area of the room where probes are stored and launched from. Probes are launched from the port side of the room and return on the starboard side. Four unused probes are stored on the port side of the room.

The sample storage room is located on the inner side of the facility. It is used to hold samples for distribution to different labs on the deck. The storage room features three different sizes of shelving for each of the containers used by the ship.

In future updates, Probe Storage is expected to feature an airlock for probes to ensure crew safety whilst probes leave the ship.

Planned Functionality

Once fully implemented, the Probe Storage area will likely offer specialized equipment needed to create and maintain probes. It will be operated by the operations department, with Deck Crew members assigned to run the room. The Probe Storage facilities will include consoles and 3D printers. It will also be used to collect samples, which can be sent to Science Labs to perform studies and experiments, contributing to the science department's capabilities.
